Meet Ian Strand, DO, FAAEM
Dr. Ian Strand is a board-certified emergency physician with special interests and additional training in men’s health, hormone optimization, traumatic brain injury, and performance medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.
After graduation he served as a commissioned officer stationed at Ft. Lewis with combat deployment to Iraq in 2007 as an infantry platoon leader and company executive officer. Following his military service, Dr. Strand attended medical school at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, WA before traveling to Columbus, OH to complete a four-year residency in Emergency Medicine. He moved back to Olympia in 2018 to provide emergency medical care to patients in south Puget Sound.
As an emergency physician, Dr. Strand regularly sees the full spectrum of health and disease. Unlike portrayals of the specialty in popular television series, the bulk of everyday work in emergency medicine is evaluating patients at different stages of their life and identifying and treating chronic diseases; from pediatrics to geriatrics and everything in between.
